The Ottawa Senators have confirmed that defenceman Jared Cowen will undergo surgery at some point this week to repair an undisclosed lower body injury.
The organization released a brief statement on Monday, confirming that the 21-year-old Cowen sustained the injury in October while playing with the club’s AHL affiliate in Binghamton.
He will undergo the procedure this week and until the surgery is completed, the club will not provide any further updates on Cowen’s status.
Cowen appeared in all 82 regular season games with the club in his rookie season in 2011-12, collecting five goals and 17 points.
