Taylor Hall makes fan’s night with hockey stick exchange

Taylor Hall had his stick knocked into the crowd but when he wanted it back he was nice enough to replace it with a new one.

Thursday’s New Year’s Eve game between the Edmonton Oilers and Anaheim Ducks featured a uniquely Canadian moment one Oilers fan won’t soon forget.

The sequence of events began with contact between Taylor Hall and Ducks defenceman Clayton Stoner, which sent Hall into a spin and launched his stick into the stands and into the hands of one lucky fan sitting in the seventh row.

After the whistle, Hall kindly motioned to the fan that he’d like his stick back, and offered another twig of his in exchange.

Sportsnet’s Gene Principe caught up with the lucky fan, Kevin Goodwin, following the unique interaction. Apparently he will be hanging the stick proudly over his bar.

Happy New Year, indeed!
