Thatcher Demko added to U.S. World Championship team

Vancouver Canucks general manager Jim Benning talks about meeting with Thatcher Demko and Brock Boeser.

Goaltender Thatcher Demko, a Vancouver Canucks draft choice, has been selected to play for the U.S. national team at the upcoming World Championships, the program announced Thursday.

Demko most recently played for Boston College, earning himself a 2016 Hobey Baker nomination while winning the Mike Richter Award as the top goalie in NCAA men’s hockey.

The California native will play with the national team for the fourth time, having won silver with the U-18 team in 2013.

Demko was drafted 36th overall in 2014 by the Canucks.
