Winnipeg Jets forward Alex Burmistrov reportedly wants out of Manitoba.
Set to become a restricted free agent on July 5, Burmistrov is requesting a trade away from the Jets, two league sources told the Winnipeg Free Press for an article that ran Wednesday. And he has no intentions of re-signing in Winnipeg.
The 21-year-old Russian reportedly asked to be moved in advance of this season’s trade deadline and has not changed his mind.
“The only question I’m going to answer is to say that Alex is not going to sign in the KHL,” Burmistrov’s agent, Mark Gandler, told the Free Press.
Drafted eighth overall by the franchise in 2010, Burmistrov scored four goals and six assists in 44 games played with the Jets in 2012-13.
He is coming to the end of his three-year, $2.7-million entry-level deal with Winnipeg.
