Canadian welterweight Chad Laprise is set to fight Brian Camozzi at UFC 213, Sportsnet has learned.
The 30-year-old Chatham, Ont., native is replacing Alan Jouban after Jouban suffered a fractured foot and was forced off the July 8 card.
Laprise (11–2) hasn’t fought since earning a TKO victory over Thibault Gouti in Vancouver in August 2016.
The TUF Nations welterweight tournament winner had been scheduled to face Li Jingliang in front of a home crowd in Toronto at UFC 206 in December but he withdrew from the bout citing an injury. This will be the first time Laprise has ever fought in the United States. All of his previous bouts were in Canada save for a split decision loss to Ross Pearson last year in Australia.
Camozzi (7-3) is seeking his first UFC win after being stopped by Randy Brown in his promotional debut six months ago.
UFC 213 takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Canadian Jordan Mein is also slated to compete on the card against Belal Muhammad.
Other bouts currently slated for the event include:
— Amanda Nunes vs. Valentina Shevchenko (for women’s bantamweight title)
— Yoel Romero vs. Robert Whittaker (for interim middleweight title)
— Robbie Lawler vs. Donald Cerrone
— Fabricio Werdum vs. Alistair Overeem
— Anthony Pettis vs. Jim Miller
— Travis Browne vs. Oleksiy Oliynyk
