Montreal’s Yves Jabouin will take on Dustin Pague in a bantamweight bout at UFC 161 in Winnipeg, the organization announced Wednesday.
The event takes place on June 15 at the MTS Centre and is the first UFC show in the Manitoba capital.
Jabouin (18-8) was originally scheduled to fight at last month’s UFC 158 in his home town before his opponent Johnny Eduardo pulled out with an injury 10 days before the March 16 event. While the UFC was unable to find a suitable replacement, the 33-year-old still cut weight and attended media events during fight week in case of another injury on the card and was subsequently paid his show purse even though he didn’t fight.
The Canadian is coming off a knockout loss to Brad Pickett in September, which snapped a three-fight win streak.
Pague (11-7) is currently on a two-fight losing streak and hasn’t competed since last August.
UFC 161 will be headlined by the interim bantamweight championship bout between Renan Barao and Eddie Wineland and already features five other Canadians.
