A middleweight bout between former Strikeforce champion Ronaldo (Jacare) Souza and Yushin Okami is in the works, according to UFC president Dana White.

The fight contract has not been officially signed and a date for the discussed bout has yet to be determined.

Souza (18-3, 1 NC) is coming off a dominant performance in his UFC debut on May 18 in his native Brazil as he chocked Chris Camozzi unconscious with an arm-triangle in less than four minutes. The win was his fourth straight, ninth in his last ten fights, and earned him a Submission of the Night bonus.

Okami (29-7) is riding a three-fight win streak and looking to get himself back in title contention. The longtime UFC veteran is coming off a split decision win over former Bellator champion Hector Lombard at UFC on Fuel TV: Silva vs. Stann on March 3.

SILVA VS. JONES SUPER-FIGHT POSSIBLE FOR 2013

White told CBS’ Atlanta affiliate that a super-fight between UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones could potentially take place sometime this year.

“Silva has a fight coming up on July 6, he’s fighting Chris Weidman. Many people think this is a very serious threat to his record and his title and everything else. But if he gets past this test with Weidman, we could see this (Jones) super-fight this year,” White said.

Silva has his fight with Weidman and Jones is currently recovering from a broken toe he suffered in his UFC 159 TKO win over Chael Sonnen. White told reporters in Las Vegas Thursday that Jones told him he’s feeling well, but there is still ligament damage to the toe.

Jones could be out as little as six weeks or as long as six months.
