TORONTO (April 7, 2013) – Sportsnet today announced that it has secured an agreement with the NHL for multimedia rights to 24/7 Red Wings/Maple Leafs: Road to the NHL Winter Classic.  The deal includes exclusive Canadian rights for television, online and mobile for the highly-anticipated documentary series.

24/7 Red Wings/Maple Leafs: Road to the NHL Winter Classic will provide an all-access pass to the events leading up to the 2014 NHL Winter Classic, featuring the Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings playing outdoors at Michigan Stadium on the University of Michigan campus. The series will air exclusively in Canada on Sportsnet and City (broadcast schedule to be announced at a later date).

“The passion and history surrounding these two NHL Original Six franchises are immeasurable,” said Navaid Mansuri, Vice-President of Finance & Sports Programming, Rogers Broadcasting. “We are proud to partner with the NHL to provide Canadians with the opportunity to get up-close and personal with the Leafs and Red Wings as they prepare for this huge event. With uncensored access to players and coaches on and off the ice, there is no question this documentary series will be must-see TV for hockey fans everywhere.”

Today’s announcement enhances Sportsnet’s commitment to keeping Toronto Maple Leafs fans connected to their home team first.
