The Cincinnati Reds have reinstated Joey Votto off the 10-day injured list ahead of the team’s weekend series against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Votto, from Etobicoke, Ont., will start at first base and bat in the cleanup spot Friday.
Votto had been on the COVID list since May 3 and had played a few rehab games prior to being cleared.
Votto, 38, is batting .122/.278/.135 with no home runs and three RBI in 90 plate appearances across 22 games this season.
Additionally, the Reds placed outfielder Albert Almora, infielder Brandon Drury plus pitchers Joel Kuhnel and Tyler Mahle on the restricted list.
