Canada will next play Panama on Monday.
The Vancouver side jumped to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning before a pitchers' duel broke out through the meat of the game. But Canada broke through again in the sixth inning, adding three runs to its tally.
Canada outhit Australia 9-2 and did not make an error compared to three for its opponent.
