Right-hander Jacob Waguespack is expected to start for the Toronto Blue Jays against the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday, according to manager Charlie Montoyo.
Sportsnet’s Ben Nicholson-Smith added that a roster move is forthcoming to make room for Waguespack.
Waguespack has appeared in one game at the big-league level so far this season, pitching four innings of relief back on May 27 against the Tampa Bay Rays. In that lone appearance, the 25-year-old allowed three hits and two earned runs, while striking out seven batters.
In 12 games (11 starts) with triple-A Buffalo this season, Waguespack has compiled a 2-6 record, 5.30 ERA and allowed 57 hits in 52.2 innings of work.
Waguespack was selected in the 37th round of the 2012 MLB Amateur Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
