Marcus Stroman will be making his first start of spring training when the Toronto Blue Jays take on the New York Yankees Monday in Grapefruit League action.

Matt Shoemaker will make his first start for the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

Stroman gets the ball for the first time since he made some controversial comments last week, saying he was frustrated with how the off-season went and “I want to make sure everybody in this organization is doing everything in their power to put the best product out on the field.”

Last season, his fifth with the Blue Jays, Stroman posted some of the worst numbers of his career. He finished the season with a 4-9 record and career-high 5.54 ERA with 77 strikeouts in 19 starts, and was shut down in early September with a blister on his pitching hand.

Shoemaker comes to the Blue Jays after playing his entire five-year MLB career with the Los Angeles Angels. The 32-year-old had a 2-2 record with a 4.94 ERA in only seven starts last season while missing most of the campaign with a forearm injury.
