Right-handed reliever David Phelps will start as the opener for the Toronto Blue Jays against the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday.
Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo said Tuesday that he expected Jacob Waguespack would be on the mound for Toronto in their second of a three-game set against the Red Sox.
Instead, Waguespack will follow after Phelps opens the game.
The club says Waguespack was reinstated from the 10-day injured list and will be active for Wednesday’s game. In a corresponding move, righty Sean Reid-Foley was optioned to triple-A Buffalo.
