Blue Jays’ Vlad Guerrero Jr. out estimated 3 weeks with oblique strain

Toronto Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins comments on the injury to Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

The Toronto Blue Jays will be without the services of star prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr. for approximately three weeks due to a Grade 1 left-oblique strain, Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi has learned.

Guerrero Jr. suffered the injury in his last at-bat against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday. He did not play in Saturday’s 8-7 Spring Training win over the Philadelphia Phillies.

GM Ross Atkins indicated that the hope is Guerrero Jr. will resume baseball activities in a week or two before returning to game action.

The injury is not believed to be a long-term concern.
