The Toronto Blue Jays have asked for right-hander Deivi Garcia, the New York Yankees’ No. 1 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, to be included in a potential trade package for Marcus Stroman, MLB Network’s Jon Morosi reported Sunday.
Acquiring an arm like Stroman’s ahead of Wednesday’s trade deadline would benefit New York’s pitching immensely, especially given the rotation’s struggles of late that have seen the team surrender seven or more runs in seven consecutive games.
Morosi adds that the Yankees and Blue Jays have been in regular contact about Stroman.
According to MLB Network’s Jon Heyman, though, the Yankees are keeping Garcia off limits in trade packages unless the unlikely chance to acquire Noah Syndergaard presents itself.

Aside from New York, the Minnesota Twins, San Diego Padres and Houston Astros are also rumoured to be interested in acquiring the 28-year-old veteran starter.
