The Toronto Blue Jays have designated right-handed reliever Zack Godley for assignment.
The move opens up a spot for righty T.J. Zeuch on the 40-man roster. Zeuch is expected to make his MLB debut Tuesday following opener Wilmer Font against the Atlanta Braves.
Godley, 29, appeared in six games with the Blue Jays after being acquired off waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks on Aug. 7. In 15 innings of relief, he posted a 3.94 ERA with 12 strikeouts.
Zeuch, who is the Jays’ 17th-best prospect according to MLB Pipeline, recorded a 3.69 ERA with 39 strikeouts across 78 innings in 13 starts for triple-A Buffalo this season. He also threw a no-hitter against the Rochester Red Wings on Aug. 19.
