After reaching an agreement with the Toronto Raptors on a trade that would have sent point guard Kyle Lowry to New York, Knicks owner James Dolan decided to veto the move, according to the New York Daily News.
The Knicks were reportedly willing to send Metta World Peace, Raymond Felton and one of either Tim Hardaway JR., Iman Shumpert or a 2018 first-round pick to Toronto for Lowry.
Dolan allegedly became upset when details of the potential possible trade went public and stepped in to ensure that it would not happen.
Dolan has a history with Raptors general manager Masai Ujiri, having famously negotiated the blockbuster trade that sent Carmelo Anthony to New York in 2011 when Ujiri was with the Nuggets.
Back in June, Ujiri pulled the trigger on another deal with New York , sending embattled forward Andrea Bargnani to the Knicks for a package that included Steve Novak and multiple draft picks.
Lowry has been the full-time starter for the Raptors this season and is averaging 14.4 points, 6.6 assists and 2.9 rebounds in 20 games.
On the court, the Raptors will host the Philadelphia 76ers at the Air Canada Centre tonight.
