The NBA has notified teams that it plans to allow the re-opening of practice facilities Friday, pending new developments, in cities where shelter-in-place regulations due to the COVID-19 pandemic have been eased, according to ESPN‘s Marc Stein.
Stein reports that teams will receive further information Wednesday in terms of the specifics, with any strength and conditioning activities being prohibited if they require players and staff to be within 12 feet of each other.
The Associated Press reported last week that players would have to wear face masks inside facilities except when working out, and that any staff members present would have to wear face masks and gloves.
The NBA was originally planning to allow facilities to open last Friday before pushing the date back by a week.
Toronto Mayor John Tory said Tuesday that there have been preliminary talks with the Toronto Raptors about a return to play as local restrictions are lifted.
Tory said the city is working with the government of Ontario and that “things are moving forward quite nicely.”
