Canadian welterweight Sheldon Westcott fell short against Pawel Pawlak Saturday, losing a unanimous decision at a UFC Fight Night event in Krakow, Poland.
The 30-year-old of St. Albert, Alta., now sports a 8-3-1 pro record.
After a strong opening stanza in which he was the aggressor, Westcott was on the receiving end of two hard knees early in the second before fading late in the round and getting taken down by Pawlak (11-1). The third round saw Pawlak control the action in front of his home crowd. All three judges scored the bout 29-28 for the Lodz, Poland native.

Westcott, a former track and field athlete, hadn’t fought since a loss to Team Canada teammate Elias Theodorou in The Ultimate Fighter Nations middleweight final last April in Quebec City.
Saturday’s event was headlined by a heavyweight bout between heavyweight stars Gabriel Gonzaga and Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic.
