WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed offensive lineman Chris Greaves to a contract extension Tuesday.
The Toronto native started 15 games at guard last season. Greaves, who was drafted by Winnipeg in the 2010 CFL Draft, had played 67 straight games for the Blue Bombers before an injury in Week 3 sidelined him for three weeks.
"Whenever you have (a) Canadian offensive lineman who can start consistently, it’s very important to retain them," Blue Bombers general manager Kyle Walters said in a release.
Greaves has started 56 games on the offensive line over his career.
"When I was presented with this opportunity to ensure staying in Winnipeg, it was done without hesitation," he said. "I really love playing here for this organization and this group of staff, my teammates, and obviously for such passionate fans.
"As an offensive unit we are looking forward to building on the improved record from this season, and take it to the next level in 2015."
