New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley has been diagnosed with a high ankle sprain and will undergo an MRI on Monday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Barkley, the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year last season, had to be helped off the field during the first half Sunday against the Buccaneers after being tackled low around his ankles.

He was later seen on crutches and wearing a boot on his right ankle.

The 22-year-old started all 16 games for New York last season, but his status for next week is still to be determined.
