It's been quite the weekend for Myles Creighton.
One day after becoming the first Canadian golfer to shoot a 59 on the Korn Ferry Tour, the native of Digby, N.S., parlayed his stellar Saturday round into a victory at the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Wichita Open on Sunday.
Creighton fired a 2-under 68 in his final round at Crestview Country Club to finish 17 under for the tournament and win his first Korn Ferry Tour event.
He topped Mexico's Emilio Gonzalez by one — who, ironically, Creighton said he had dinner with Saturday night.
Creighton backed off his closing par-saver twice before finally stepping up to roll it in and seal the deal.
“The putt on 18 — I've been working the last week really hard on keeping my head down. I tend to come up and out of putts, so I'm not picking my head up until I hear something, whether it's a groan or cheer. I think it lipped in, I actually don't even know,” Creighton said. “Just can't believe it.”
The 29-year-old Canuck was 1 over through his first nine on Sunday, but went 3 under on his final nine holes, including an eagle at the par-4 11th, to come away with the title.
Creighton admitted he knew “it would be tough” with expectations of trying to play a good round Sunday after a career-low effort on Saturday. But as he was trying to make birdies, the pars came easier – in some seriously blustery Kansas conditions.
“If you try to wait for the wind and wait for a gust, then you would wait all day,” Creighton explained. “It took me a long time to get settled into it, and then I felt pretty good those last five or six holes.”
What makes the victory even more impressive is that Creighton almost didn't even make it to the weekend.
He made an ace on Friday at Crestview on the par-3 12th en route to shooting a 5-under 30 on his back nine to make the cut on the number.
Given how much of a whirlwind weekend it’s been, Creighton admitted he hasn’t had a chance to process what’s happened yet.
“I thought about it a lot the last, like, 24 hours. The feeling in my head that I had walking to the 10th tee being 1-over par for the tournament (on Friday), just feeling like ‘All right,’ (and) kind of thinking about the next week a little bit, try to put that off. I've been saying this year a lot that I've kind of weirdly started to enjoy the fight on a Friday to make a cut, and I've been really good at it this year,” Creighton said.
Creighton was the second Canadian to win on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2025, with Sudarshan Yellamaraju capturing the second event of the season, The Bahamas Great Abaco Classic at The Abaco Club. Both Canadians are now inside the top 20 on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List, with 20 PGA Tour cards being awarded at the end of the season.
Creighton moved up 58 spots to No. 16 with the win. Yellamaraju is No. 18.
The latest winner on the Korn Ferry Tour said he’s felt like this year he’s played much better than what his results have shown. Creighton has made his last eight cuts in a row and was chipping away on the Points List, trying to make a decent climb as the Korn Ferry Tour sprints through its summertime stretch.
But this week, “it all came due.”
A hole in one, a 59, and of course, a trophy.
“Got a lot of good breaks and was able to capitalize on them I guess,” Creighton said. “Just feeds into I like to fight out on the golf course, and that's just another thing to where it's like you can feel down and out, but just sticking it, stay within yourself and keep fighting and you never know.”
