Canada's Brooke Henderson is set to play for Detroit.
Henderson is joining the Motor City Golf Club for the inaugural WTGL season as all five rosters were unveiled Monday.
WTGL, announced in January as a follow to the Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy co-founded tech-infused golf platform which is entering its third season in 2027, is set to begin its first campaign after the LPGA Tour season wraps up in November.
Henderson will be joined by world No. 2 Jeeno Thitikul, Swiss Olympian Albane Valenzuela, American star Lexi Thompson, and former world No. 1 — and winner of Sunday’s FM Championship — Ruoning Yin on the Detroit-based Motor City Golf Club, the newest TGL franchise.
There will be five teams in all.
Henderson, who is ranked 11th in the world, was one of the first five golfers announced as part of WTGL earlier this year. She hasn’t had too many chances to play team golf as a professional — although she was a member of the World Team at the International Crown competition last fall — and told Sportsnet.ca in January this is set to be a unique opportunity.
“I’m really looking forward to WTGL having a new audience and a bigger range of viewers and fans who can see the personalities and the talent of the LPGA Tour,” Henderson said.
Henderson will be the second Canadian to compete in the SoFi Center after Corey Conners filled in as part of Atlanta Drive GC in December.
Motor City Golf Club, which was announced in May 2025 as TGL’s first expansion team, announced last week that its first male team member is Brooks Koepka.
The team’s ownership group is led by Middle West Partners principals Michael Hamp, Peter Hamp and Kevin Kelleher, all of whom have Detroit roots.
The other four teams in WTGL are also owned by the same ownership groups as on the men’s side with Atlanta, Boston Common Golf, Los Angeles Golf Club and New York Golf Club.
The Boston Common Golf Club roster reveal occurred last week at the FM Championship, which took place at TPC Boston.
“WTGL will combine teams of world-class LPGA Tour stars with the energy of fans inside SoFi Center to create a thrilling new experience for women’s golf,” TMRW Sports president Rufus Hack said in a press release. “The five teams will go head-to-head throughout November and December, creating a consistent spotlight for women’s team golf and giving fans a new way to see the players’ personalities, competitive instincts and decision-making as teammates. With the rosters now set, the teams’ identities and rivalries can begin to take shape.”

In all, there are 13 countries represented and eight of the top 15 golfers in the world rankings (as of Aug. 24) will be participating. World No. 1 Nelly Korda is notably not among the 25 players set to compete.
WTGL will play its matches in the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. Its competition will be slightly different than on the men’s side, as it features a round-robin regular season where every match carries post-season implications. The season builds to a playoff structure with single-elimination semifinals and a best-of-three final.
Each team has a five-player roster so participation can align with the LPGA Tour and off-season schedules. Three players from each roster compete in each match.
The second season of TGL was won by the Los Angeles Golf Club, with Atlanta Drive GC winning the inaugural SoFi Cup.
