When the Grand Slam of Curling returns, they'll be without a longtime skip.
Swedish skip Niklas Edin will be stepping away from the tour, he announced in a social media statement via GSOC.
The 40-year-old retires with eight world championships, eight European championships, four GSOC titles and three Olympic medals under his belt.
"Which leads me to make a tough and scary decision," Edin wrote. "To quit while ahead and have time to enjoy what else is out there."
Edin continued that he hoped to remain around the sport, whether in a coaching or commentary capacity, while also expressing a desire to play in curling's new Rock League, which just completed its inaugural season.
On tour, Edin captured titles in the Masters (2016), the Players' Championship (2016) and the Tour Challenge (2017, 2022).
