Should Bieksa be suspended for Stalberg hit?

Watch as Vancouver Canucks defenceman Kevin Bieksa delivers a blow to the head of winger Viktor Stalberg from the Nashville Predators.

Vancouver Canucks defenceman Kevin Bieksa could be getting a call from the NHL’s department of player safety.

Early in the first period of Tuesday’s contest against the Nashville Predators, Bieksa clipped Viktor Stalberg, appearing to lower his shoulder into the head of the Predators forward.

Stalberg was visibly shaken and was slow to get up, but would return to the game soon after, eventually scoring in the second period. Bieksa was issued a minor penalty for an illegal check to the head, during which Nashville’s power play unit scored.

Bieksa was later ejected from the game with less than four minutes to go in the third. He was issued a game misconduct following a dangerous hit by Alex Burrows.
