Blackhawks’ Caggiula to have hearing for illegal hit on Oilers’ Ennis

Chicago Blackhawks forward Drake Caggiula throws a high hit on Edmonton Oilers forward Tyler Ennis in the second period of Game 1 of their series.

Chicago Blackhawks forward Drake Caggiula will have a hearing on Sunday for an illegal check to the head on Edmonton Oilers forward Tyler Ennis, the department of player safety announced on Saturday night.

Mid-way through the second period, Ennis attempted to clear a loose puck from the Oilers’ zone. His head dropped during the release of his shot and Caggiula followed through on a hit, driving his shoulder into Ennis’ chin.

Ennis left the game but returned for the third period.

The only penalty on the play went to Ennis for delay of game because his clearing attempt went over the glass.
