Blues’ Elliott leaves game with injury

A hard scramble in front of the Blues net led to more than just a little rough stuff between St. Louis and Ottawa after the whistle. It also forced goaltender Brian Elliott out of the game with an apparent leg injury.

The St. Louis Blues are down a netminder after starter Brian Elliott left the game against the visiting Ottawa Senators with an apparent lower-body injury on Tuesday night.

Elliott was lifted from the game after a scramble in the St. Louis crease saw Senators forward Erik Condra and Blues defenceman Chris Butler land on the goalie’s right leg.

Elliott tested out his leg while officials reviewed a disallowed goal call, but the goalie could not continue.

Blues backup goalie Jake Allen was summoned from the bench to take over with 6:02 left in the second period, inheriting a 2-0 lead.

Elliott was visibly frustrated when he came off the ice, tossing his stick down the hallway as he headed toward the Blues’ dressing room.
