Blues sign centre Stastny to four-year contract

Paul Stastny joins HC (via phone) to discuss how tough the decision was to leave Colorado for St. Louis, what the deciding factors were, and what he brings to an already really good team.

The St. Louis Blues have added some offence early in free agency when the club reached a four-year deal with centre Paul Stastny.

Stastny fills an organizational need for a playmaking centre. He scored 25 goals, 35 assists with a plus-9 rating in 71 games with the Colorado Avalanche last season. He is expected to slide in as the team’s No. 1 centre.

The 28-year-old Quebec native has recorded 160 goals, 298 assists and 264 penalty minutes in 538 career games.

Stastny was originally selected by the Avalanche in the second round (44th overall) of the 2005 NHL Draft.
