Bruins’ David Krejci leaves pre-season game with lower-body injury

David Krejci got injured at some point in front of the net as the Bruins took on the Flyers in preseason and did not return to the game.

Boston Bruins centre David Krejci exited Monday’s pre-season game against the Philadelphia Flyers with a lower-body injury and will not return.

Krejci played just two shifts in the first period and was ruled out after suffering what appeared to be an injury to his left knee. While skating toward the net, Krejci collided with Flyers defenceman Shayne Gostisbehere.

It was Krejci’s first pre-season game of the year.

After the game, Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy downplayed the injury, saying he didn’t think it was serious.

The 33-year-old is entering his 14th NHL season, all with the Bruins. He tallied 20 goals and 73 points in 81 games last season as the second-line centre, followed by 16 points in the playoffs as Boston made a run all the way to the Stanley Cup Final.
