The Boston Bruins felt like they got robbed of a goal Thursday night and it sure looks like they have a legitimate case.
With just over eight minutes left in the third period, while the Bruins were down 2-1 to the Florida Panthers, Boston forward Patrice Bergeron appeared to score from the side of the net.
However, after a lengthy replay review, the goal was disallowed and it was ruled that there was no conclusive evidence of the puck fully crossing the goal line.
The Bruins didn’t score another goal for the rest of the game and the Panthers eventually won 4-1.
Following the loss, Bruins head coach Claude Julien was dumbfounded with the botched call.
“I got another coach that texted me, and [it] was ‘WTF,” he said (via WEEI.com) How can that not be a goal?’ That’s coming from somebody who’s neutral.”
Some fans “threw debris” on the ice as the Bruins broadcast indicated.
“You got it wrong Toronto,” said Bruins colour commentator Andy Brickley. “And not by a little. You got it wrong. I don’t know how much more conclusive you want.”
