KINGSTON, Ont. — Boston Bruins prospect Jamie Arniel has been arrested for impaired driving.

Police allege that Arniel was behind the wheel of a Toyota that zig-zagged across lawns and hit parked cars, utility poles and a stop sign in a half-hour long early-morning smashing spree in the Kingston west-end neighbourhood where he lives.

Police say Arniel, who was arrested at 3:27 a.m. on June 22, later submitted a breath sample that showed he had a blood-alcohol level two and a half times over the legal limit.

Arniel had been seen in a nightclub in downtown Kingston the night before his arrest.

He has been charged with impaired driving, driving with a blood-alcohol level over the limit and four counts of failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

Arniel, 18, the nephew of former NHL player Scott Arniel, was ranked among the top 25 North American players available at the June 21 NHL draft in Ottawa. He was selected 97th overall by the Bruins.
