Bruins sign Adam McQuaid to four-year extension

Adam McQuaid landed a new four-year deal on Friday.

The Boston Bruins have moved quickly on another defenceman after trading away Dougie Hamilton at the NHL draft on Friday, signing Adam McQuaid to a four-year contract extension worth an average annual value of $2.75 million.

McQuaid, 28, was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. He registered one goal, six assists with a minus-2 rating in 63 games last season.

The Charlottetown, PEI native has spent six NHL seasons with the Bruins, accumulating nine goals, 34 assists, and 430 penalty minutes in 283 games.

McQuaid was originally selected in the second round (55th overall) in the 2007 NHL Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets
