Bruins’ Tuukka Rask concussed after being hit in head by Bemstrom

Tuukka Rask is forced to leave the game just over a minute in, as Columbus Blue Jackets' Emil Bemstrom cuts across the crease and catches the Boston Bruins' netminder in the head with an 'incidental' fist.

Boston Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask left Tuesday’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets after being knocked in the head while in his crease and won’t return due to an upper-body injury.

Rask was hit by Emil Bemstrom just over a minute into the game after the Blue Jackets forward appeared to be cross-checked into the goaltender. Bemstrom appeared to have made contact with Rask’s head with his left hand.

The Finnish goaltender was dazed afterwards, but skated off the ice under his own power.

Boston coach Bruce Cassidy said after the game that Rask had a concussion and was looking for more from his team after their goalie went down.

Jaroslav Halak came on as a replacement in net.
