Canadiens’ Julien expects Price to be back ‘soon’ from hand injury

Montreal Canadiens head coach Claude Julien discusses the minor injury Carey Price suffered and the play of Nick Suzuki.

Montreal Canadiens head coach Claude Julien expects Carey Price to be back on the ice “very soon” after the star goalie was scratched from a pre-season start with a bruise on his hand.

“It’s one of those things where you’re probably going to see him on the ice very, very soon,” Julien said Wednesday. “It’s minor, it’s just a bruise on his hand. And the only way for it to heal is to give it some rest.”

The bruise is on Price’s catching hand and it’s unclear when it first appeared.

Charlie Lindgren made 15 saves on 17 shots replacing Price in a loss to the Maple Leafs on Monday. Keith Kinkaid is expected to start Wednesday’s pre-season game against the Leafs.

The Canadiens close out the pre-season on Saturday against the Ottawa Senators. They open the regular season on Oct. 3 on the road against the Carolina Hurricanes.
