The Vancouver Canucks have signed free-agent forward Marc Michaelis to a one-year contract, the team announced Thursday.

Michaelis, 24, led Minnesota State University in scoring this season with 44 points (20 goals, 24 assists) in 31 games. He was also named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association’s offensive player of the year for 2019-20.

“Marc has exceptional offensive instincts and proven leadership,” said Canucks general manager Jim Benning in a statement. “We look forward to adding his skill and play-making ability to the franchise.”

Michaelis, who can play as a centre or on the left wing, represented Germany internationally at the 2019 world championships.
