Capitals sign NCAA’s Shane Gersich to two-year, entry-level deal

The Washington Capitals have signed 21-year-old forward Shane Gersich to a two-year, entry-level contract, the club announced on Friday.

Gersich will report to the Capitals immediately, per the club’s release, and could suit up for Washington during the home stretch of the NHL season. Drafted 134th overall by the Capitals in 2014, Gersich has spent the past three seasons playing for the University of North Dakota.

He has 13 goals and 29 points through 40 games this season, after posting career-best marks of 21 goals and 37 points in that same span last season.
