Chris Kreider fined $5,000 for using helmet in fight with Cody Eakin

Check this out as Rangers forward Chris Kreider could be in some serious hot water, after using Cody Eakin’s helmet as a weapon during their fight on Tuesday.

The Dallas Stars and New York Rangers played Tuesday night in their first meeting since December, when Cody Eakin ran over Henrik Lundqvist behind the New York net, leading to a four-game suspension for charging.

Looking for some revenge, Chris Kreider went looking for a fight with Eakin in their latest matchup. When he got it, Eakin’s helmet came off his head and Kreider used it as a weapon against him. The result? A $5,000 fine for Kreider, the maximum allowed under the CBA.

The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
