The injury bug may have bitten Maple Leafs defenceman Carlo Colaiacovo once again as he injured his leg at practice Thursday blocking a shot. Trainers had to help him off the ice.

There are no details on the extent of his injury or if he will miss any games. Colaiacovo left the arena in a walking cast to get x-rays.

When asked, Leafs head coach Ron Wilson stated he doesn’t believe it is a serious injury but is unsympathetic to Colaiacovo’s history of injuries, saying he brings it upon himself.

“The big thing with Carlo, and I tell him every day, you’re not in very good shape and that’s your fault. And it leads to all the other issues you had in the past,” said Wilson.

Colaiacovo, 25, has a long history of injuries despite his relatively short NHL career. In 2006 and 2007, the Leafs defenceman missed 34 and 37 games respectively; in 2006 from a concussion and a knee injury in 2007.

Drafted in 2001, Colaiacovo cracked the Toronto lineup in 2002 and has been a mainstay on the blueline since 2005. He has yet to crack the 50 games played in a season.
