Coyotes sign defenceman Ilya Lyubushkin to one-year deal

The Arizona Coyotes have signed defenceman Ilya Lyubushkin to a one-year, two-way contract.

Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

“We are pleased to sign Ilya to a one-year contract,” said general manager John Chayka in a team release. “Ilya is a big, physical defenseman who skates well and moves the puck effectively. He will add size and toughness to our blueline.”

The six-foot-two, 209-pound Lyubushkin recorded three goals and nine points with 73 penalty minutes in 50 games with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in the KHL this past season.

The Moskva, Russia native has totalled 12 goals and 36 points with 258 PIM in 257 career games with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl from 2013-18.
