The Arizona Coyotes have signed goaltender Merrick Madsen to a two-year, entry-level contract.

Madsen had a 2.27 goals-against average and .918 save percentage in 24 games with Harvard University this season.

“Merrick is a big, skilled, athletic goaltender,” said Coyotes general manager John Chayka in a release. “We’re pleased with his development and excited to have him signed.”

The 22-year-old out of Acton, Calif., was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the sixth round of the 2013 NHL Draft.
