Former Vancouver Canucks defender Ben Hutton has signed a one-year, $1.5-million deal with the Los Angeles Kings, the club announced Tuesday.

The 26-year-old rearguard posted 20 points through 69 games for the Canucks last season, skating an average of 22:21 minutes per night — second-most among Canucks skaters.

Drafted 147th overall by the club back in 2012, Hutton has spent the past four seasons with the Canucks at the NHL level, posting a career-high 25 points as a rookie in 2015-16.

The Brockville, Ont., native earned $2.8 million per year on his last contract — a two-year pact with Vancouver that wrapped up last season — before entering this off-season as an unrestricted free agent. He’ll slot in as the fourth-highest earner on the Kings’ blue line.
