Devils sign KHL defenceman Egor Yakovlev to 1-year, entry-level deal

The New Jersey Devils announced Monday that the team has signed defenceman Egor Yakovlev to a one-year, entry-level contract.

The Russian has spent the past three seasons with SKA St. Petersburg in the KHL where he was teammates with former Devils forward Ilya Kovalchuk.

Yakovlev registered five goals, four assists, 14 penalty minutes and a plus-18 rating in 35 regular season games in 2017-18.

Financial details of his deal were not disclosed.

The 26-year-old won a gold medal at Pyeongchang 2018 as part of the Olympic Athletes From Russia team. Yakovlev also has a 2014 world championship gold medal on his resume plus a silver from the 2015 tournament.

Prior to his three years with St. Petersburg he spent three seasons with Yaroslavl Lokomotiv. Yakovlev has recorded 26 goals and 42 assists and 210 penalty minutes in 301 career KHL games.
