Fair or foul: Stralman hit on Scheifele

Watch as Winnipeg Jets centreman Mark Scheifele gets destroyed by Lightning defenceman Anton Stralman.

As the Winnipeg Jets battle for one of the final playoff spots in the Western Conference, they’ve been hit with injuries at exactly the wrong time. On Saturday night in Tampa Bay, Lightning defenseman Anton Stralman gave Jets fans a scare when his hit on Mark Scheifele forced the Jets centre to leave the game for a brief period.

Was it a clean hip check, or a dirty low bridge check?

During the second intermission on Hockey Night in Canada, Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos discussed the check, which he saw as a textbook hip check and nothing like the dangerously low hit Florida’s Dmitry Kulikov threw on Dallas’ Tyler Seguin earlier this season. Kulikov got a four-game suspension for that play.

Scheifele returned to Saturday’s game and appeared no worse for the wear. Tell us what you thought of Stralman’s hit.
