The Montreal Canadiens didn't hold back against the Carolina Hurricanes in the first 20 minutes of the Eastern Conference Final.
In the first period of Game 1 on Thursday night, the Canadiens scored four goals within 11:32, the fastest in franchise history from the start of a road game in the playoffs.
Cole Caufield, Phillip Danault, Alexandre Texier and Ivan Demidov scored in the opening frame for the Canadiens on Thursday, while the Hurricanes potted a goal of their own, with Seth Jarvis scoring 33 seconds into the game.
Montreal's four goals were also its second-fastest four goals, home or away, from the start of a playoff game in franchise history.
The fastest four goals for the Canadiens came in Game 1 of the 1958 semifinals (8:55), when they beat the Detroit Red Wings 8-1. They went on to win that series 4-0.
The Habs also scored four goals in the first period in Game 4 of the 1985 Adams Division semifinals, when Montreal faced the Boston Bruins. They lost that game 7-6 but went on to win the series 3-2.
