The Battle of Alberta will be rekindled on Saturday night as the Calgary Flames play host to the rival Edmonton Oilers as minus-150 betting favourites on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

Calgary is coming off a 2-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Thursday, and has tallied wins in four straight contests going into Saturday night’s matchup at Scotiabank Saddledome.

The Flames have claimed victory by the narrowest of margins during their current surge, with each of their four recent wins coming by a single goal, including a pair of winning efforts on home ice. Calgary’s win streak has put the brakes on a five-game losing streak on home ice, during which they surrendered 4.4 goals per game.

The Flames have also produced steady results in recent dates with Edmonton, posting wins in five of their last seven meetings according to the OddsShark NHL Database. However, the Oilers are coming off a 4-2 victory in Montreal against the Canadiens on Thursday night to establish their first three-game win streak since early October.

Overall, Edmonton has earned at least a point in five straight contests to remain deadlocked with the Flames in third in the Pacific Division. The team also halted a three-game road losing streak against the Flames with a 3-1 victory in their last trip to Calgary back in early April.

Earlier on Saturday, the Vancouver Canucks look to snap a two-game win streak as they visit the Buffalo Sabres in a pick’em matchup at online betting sites. The Canucks saw a season-high seven-game win streak come to a halt in spectacular fashion earlier this week. The team opened their current five-game road trip with a crushing 9-2 loss in Tampa Bay as a plus-180 bet, and followed up with a 5-2 loss to the Florida Panthers as plus-130 underdogs on Thursday night.

The Canucks have now lost six of eight on the road, but have taken six of eight from the Sabres, who have dropped eight of their past 11 contests.

Elsewhere on the Saturday NHL odds, the Canadiens search for an end to their eight-game losing streak as they visit the Ottawa Senators as minus-145 road favourites at the sportsbooks. The Canadiens have suffered four road defeats during their second eight-game slide of the season, but have posted wins in four of five meetings with the Senators, who take a three-game home losing streak into Saturday’s date at Canadian Tire Centre.
