Flames’ Matthew Tkachuk out for Game 3 vs. Stars, Cam Talbot starts in net

Matthew Tkachuk was forced to leave Game 2 of the Flames vs. Stars after taking massive hits multiple times through the course of the game.

Calgary Flames winger Matthew Tkachuk is not in the lineup Friday for Game 3 of the club’s opening-round series against the Dallas Stars.

Tkachuk was unable to finish Thursday’s Game 2 after he was hit by Jamie Benn and Jamie Oleksiak at the same time. The specifics of the injury are unknown but Flames coach Geoff Ward said earlier Friday that Tkachuk would be a game-time decision.

Alan Quine is expected to replace Tkachuk in the lineup.

The other question mark surrounding the Flames was who would start in net after Cam Talbot allowed five goals in Game 2. But despite having David Rittich available to him, Ward has opted to stick with Talbot for Game 3.

The Stars, however, will be making a goalie change as Anton Khudobin will replace Ben Bishop in the second game of a back-to-back. Khudobin was also in net for Game 1, a 3-2 Flames win.
