Flames sign prospect Andrew Mangiapane to ELC

Andrew Mangiapane completed a hat trick during a third period barrage by the Barrie Colts as they stormed back to down the Oshawa Generals 6-3.

The Calgary Flames signed forward Andrew Mangiapane to an entry-level contract on Wednesday.

Mangiapane, 19, was drafted in the sixth round of last year’s NHL draft by Calgary.

The five-foot-10, 177 pound left winger had 51 goals and 55 assists in 59 regular season games for the OHL’s Barrie Colts this season.

The Bolton, Ont., native finished sixth in OHL scoring with 106 points and second in goals.

The Colts face the Mississauga Steelheads in their first round OHL playoff series which begins Thursday.
