The Philadelphia Flyers acquired goaltender Steve Mason from the Columbus Blue Jackets Wednesday in exchange for fellow goalie Michael Leighton and a third-round pick in the 2013 NHL Draft.
In 13 appearances this season, Mason is 3-6-1 with a .899 save percentage and a 2.95 goals-against average.
The former Calder Memorial Trophy winner was drafted in the third round, 69th overall by Columbus in 2006.
Mason was made expendable after Sergei Bobrovsky established himself as the starter with solid play.
Leighton made just one appearance with the Flyers this season, allowing five goals on 26 shots against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Jan. 27.
