The Philadelphia Flyers have signed veteran forward Chris Stewart to a one-year contract worth $750,000.
He had attended Flyers camp on a professional tryout.
“We’re happy to have Chris under contract,” said Philadelphia president of hockey operations Cliff Fletcher. “Chris came into training camp with a great attitude and a strong work-ethic. He brings size and a veteran presence to our lineup.”
Stewart, who turns 32 years old on Oct. 30, is a 10-year NHL veteran who played last season with the Nottingham Panthers of the Elite Ice Hockey League in Britain.
In 652 NHL games with the Colorado Avalanche, St. Louis Blues, Buffalo Sabres, Minnesota Wild, Anaheim Ducks and Calgary Flames, Stewart has 160 goals, 321 points and 729 penalty minutes.
The Flyers take on the Flames in Calgary on Tuesday. It’s unclear if Stewart will be in the lineup.
