The New York Islanders have begun replenishing their centre depth, signing veteran Valtteri Filppula to a one-year contract, the team announced Sunday.
The 34-year-old posted 11 goals and 33 points for the Philadelphia Flyers in 2017-18, after stints with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Detroit Red Wings previously. He’s suited up for 876 NHL games in total, amassing 463 points in that span.
